If you're planning a Costa Rica vacation, a world of tropical adventure and excitement awaits you! Before you set off on your journey, however, you need to think carefully about what you'll need while you're here and what to pack.
As an equatorial country, Costa Rica's climate is usually very warm. During the dry season, temperatures can be pretty high, so bring plenty of light clothing. Even in the rainy season, the sunlight can be quite intense, so don't forget the sunscreen! If you plan to hike mountains like Cerro Chirripo, the tallest point in Costa Rica, bring a jacket - at an elevation of more than 12,000 feet, the summit can get pretty chilly!
Costa Rica is home to an amazing variety of wildlife - including lots of insects. While this is great news for treefrogs like me, it can be a bother to some visitors. As such, you'll want to bring an adequate supply of insect repellent, especially if you're going exploring in one of Costa Rica's many national parks and wildlife refuges.
As for money, your best bet is to divide your funds between cash / ATM card and prepaid credit cards. You'll need cash for things like admission fees in the country's national parks, and prepaid credit cards can be used at most establishments in the major cities.
