As I travel around Costa Rica, I have the privilege of staying at some amazing hotels, and recently I was treated to a stay with a view that had me hopping up and down with joy. The Royal Corin Resort & Loto Spa, in La Fortuna, San Carlos, is a hotel filled with accommodations that make each guest feel comfortable. It is also a place of awe, wonder and adventure. Let me tell you a little bit more about this hotel and my stay.

A Location That Can't Be Beat
The hotel lies in San Carlos, in La Fortuna area on the Alajuela province. One of the main things to know is that this wonderful hotel is located on the doorstep of the entrance to the mighty Arenal Volcano - but don't worry - the volcanoes is not active. This is where that awe-inducing view comes from though. Imagine drinking your morning coffee and eating your breakfast while literally staring at a volcano. It's a good daydream, isn't it? Well I've done it and I can tell you that it isn't just a dream - you can have that view! A panoramic volcano view isn't the only thing that the Royal Corin offers either; its list of accommodations is impressive and extensive.

Royal Corin Rooms & Suites
When I hopped through the hotel, the first thing that I noticed was that the quality of this establishment is surely in the details. The hotel is both modern and elegant, with great finishes and decorations. In all, the place offers 54 rooms. Of the 54 rooms, 12 of them are suites or master suites. The rooms were beautiful, though it took me a minute to stop looking at the view of the volcano and focus on the room. Once I did though, I took it all in and felt an appreciation for my surroundings. The room was stocked with a phone, a mini bar, a system for hot water that is drinkable, comfortable wood furniture and an LCD TV. I'm not sure that a TV is needed - you are crazy if you are watching a TV instead of taking in the amazing views out of the panoramic windows! If you upgrade to a suite, you will also get a bathtub with a Jacuzzi-for-two system built in. It includes a TV and a bubble system! I do try to keep myself out of bubbling water, but I'm sure that the Jacuzzi would be a nice place to rest after a day exploring the volcano.
This is a place where you can feel secure too. The building is monitored all the time through security cameras, and there is a fire detection system in place. You are also issued an electronic room key.

Hotel Accommodations
While the rooms are definitely worth talking about, the Royal Corin has an accommodations menu that is second to none. This is where the hotel really shines, and how it stole my heart. The hotel offers many of the standard accommodations that make guests feel like they are honored visitors, including a front desk that operates 24 hours a day, valet parking, bellboys, laundry services, safes, wireless Internet and guest elevators. They also offer additional services to really take their hotel to the next level, like babysitting and secretarial services. The facility also offers everything that you need for spectacular meals and entertainment. The amazing Emperador Restaurant is located on-site, and opens as early as 6:30 in the morning for breakfast with a buffet.

There are also three bars on-site, both indoors and outdoors. The bars feature great music, great views, great menus, and of course, great drinks. And you can't forget that Royal Corin is also a spa. There is really no better way to relax than to let the staff take care of you and drain away your stress. You can't be worried about anything while you are in this wonderful place; there are too many things that you'll miss out on! The Loto Spa offers massages, saunas, Jacuzzis and a general feeling of rest and relaxation. You also can't pass up the opportunity to relax in one of the thermal water hot springs that the hotel offers. These locations are truly special, and offer hot springs in varying temperatures for the ultimate comfort. This unique hotel feature includes a river of hot springs, warm waterfalls and natural saunas. These natural thermal waters are thanks to the hotel's proximity to the Arenal Volcano.

Things To Do
If you're like me, and just have to stay at the Royal Corin, the good news is that there are many things you can do while you are in the area...that is, if you can tear yourself away from the amazing hotel accommodations. Of course, there is the Arenal Volcano National Park to visit, which leads you to the volcano. The park is filled with wonder, including animals, vegetation, and, at night, the most spectacular display of volcanic nature that you're likely to see. You can get to the volcano by hiking or by taking a horseback tour offered by the hotel. You can also venture to La Fortuna Waterfall, take a bike tour, explore the Venado Caves, take a canopy tour, go sport fishing, or get wet on a rafting tour. However long your stay, and whatever activities you decide to do, heading back to the Royal Corin at the end of your day will feel like coming back to your home away from home. Enjoy your stay!
