I’m so lucky to get to travel around Costa Rica and stay at some of the best hotels that the country has to offer. Recently, I got to stay on location at Alma del Pacifico Beach Hotel & Spa, a beach resort in the Central Pacific region, along Playa Esterillos Este. This seaside escape captured my attention immediately because it is easy to get to from the San Jose International airport, a main travel hub in Costa Rica. You can get to Alma del Pacifico in just a short two-hour drive. This luxury location is great for those traveling on business, for their honeymoon, or just as a family. Read my review below!

Guest Rooms

While some might cite the location or the spa as the shining crown of Alma del Pacifico, I’m going to go ahead and say that it is the amazing way that they pulled Costa Rica culture into the design of the guest rooms. The rooms are colorful, artistic, and moving. I love staying here just so that I can view the rooms for a few days. Alma del Pacifico Beach Hotel & Spa offers three types of rentals: Garden Bungalow, Beachfront Villa, Deluxe Beachfront Villa. The Garden Bungalow offers its guests privacy and comfort, while giving them easy access to the property’s two pools. As the name suggests, these villas offer an enclosed garden out on the terrace. The Beachfront Villa is an amazing option, with privacy and access to the beach. Guests are also treated to panoramic views of the waters, which they can get while they stand on their private terrace. The Deluxe Beachfront Villa offers even more access to the beach, with private access to a small pool. All that…plus panoramic views and a garden.

Amenities

The rooms offer guests the most updated amenities, and I was definitely not disappointed. While I recommend that you disconnect while you are visiting Costa Rica, there is high speed internet for those that just have to have it. Hopefully you are just uploading some of your amazing Costa Rica photos! Guests can also count on their rooms being air conditioned, having a hair dryer, and offering a sitting area. There is also a mini bar for the adults! Select rooms will offer garden and beach views, and a Jacuzzi.

Dining

It’s no secret that I am very excited about the food in Costa Rica. There are so many delicious dishes! Alma del Pacifico offers its guests an authentic dining experience on-site with its Mosaic Restaurant and its Beach Bar. Please do yourself a favor and try the Lomito Alma!

Spa

The Spa is one of the best features of Alma del Pacifico Beach Hotel & Spa. The menu is extensive, and includes the use of local ingredients with their services – this is a pretty cool, and absolutely sustainable, idea! I love that the services can be out in the garden, in privacy. Sitting in a room with fake sounds and smells just isn’t the same as having an authentic experience.

Things To Do

OK, now we’re talking about my favorite section – all the things that you can do when you are staying at Alma del Pacifico! I was never bored during my stay, and I even wish I could’ve stayed longer to do more! From fishing to horseback riding, there is something for everyone! The great location of Alma del Pacifico – between Jaco and Quepos – there is a variety of activities for you to do during your stay. Those that like to stay on dry land can enjoy hiking or horseback riding. Of course, there is also always golfing! I am not much of a golfer but I hear that the course here is great! Anyone looking for a water excursion will be happy to know that they can surf or fish in the area.

The beach itself can take up a whole day for visitors. Whether you are looking to lay out, swim, walk or bike – you’ve got the perfect spot! The beach is beautiful, and it is one of my favorite places to visit – though I do stay out of the water. For those looking for more adventure, you can sign up for an ATV tour too! There are also nightclubs close by for those looking to dance the night away. I myself happen to be an amazing dancer, so I frequent Jaco to dance with the locals and visitors. I have found that surfers have the most unique moves, while Americans have the most unique moves! The local drinks are pretty great too, using fruit juices to infuse the drinks with a taste that is authentically Costa Rica!
