Palma Real Hotel in San Jose
My job is NOT terrible. Not in any way. I get to hop around Costa Rica, trying out all of the food, drinks, dances, and adventures that my country has to offer so that I can report the good, bad, and ugly back to my loyal readers. It’s the sweet life, for sure. I was so excited when I heard that my next assignment was to stay at Palma Real Hotel & Casino for a few days. I’ve heard of this place before, as it has a reputation for fantastic food and drinks (spoiler alert: the menu was amazing!). Located in San Jose, this hotel is conveniently close to the commercial and business areas in the city. I had a great time during my stay, and all the juicy details are below! I definitely give this place my recommendation for any visitors that will be in the area!

Business and Pleasure
One of the things I noticed right away when I arrived at Palma Real was that there were a lot of business men and women. Then I realized why...this spot is great for business trips! There are meeting rooms that will fit up to 100 people and offer free WiFi, along with other business equipment like computers and copying machines. Don’t worry though, the business atmosphere was for the business people, and all the other guests were clearly in a pleasure atmosphere! The facilities were modern, and the rooms were just beautiful. I stayed a few nights, and tried out the Superior Room, as well as the upgraded to the Junior and Master Suites...you know, all in the name of research. The Superior Rooms would be perfect for small groups or families.
There are two beds, and plenty of amenities. The Suites are great upgrades for bigger groups and families, or just for those that want a little extra luxury. The Suites offer bigger rooms and some upgraded amenities. In a Superior, you’ll get air conditioning, an alarm clock and radio, a work desk, cable TV, a coffeemaker, a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board, and the option for connecting rooms. The Suites also including sitting areas and large desks, and in the Master Suite, a kitchenette. The rooms all had comfortable beds and bedding, and they were clean.

Amenities
I love a place that makes me feel like I am at home when I visit. Even when you are in such a beauty place like Costa Rica, you can start to miss home a little bit. I loved the little touches that Palma Real added to my stay that were comforting, such as a free newspaper every morning and free daily breakfast. They also offer their guests free Internet, and airport shuttles.

They have a fitness center, and babysitting available for guests as well. The fitness center has a great balcony that I enjoyed sitting at after my workouts. There are great views, and it is the perfect way to cool off after an intense fitness session.There is a pool and spa onsite at the Palma Real as well, which I of course checked out. The menu is pretty standard, and offers relaxing services that are sure to rejuvenate anyone after a long day of exploring Costa Rica.

Dining
I am always most excited to try the food and drinks when I am on location. As I mentioned earlier, Palma Real did not disappoint. There is a restaurant that offers a la carte dishes as well as a buffet, and there is also a bar in the lobby. The lobby bar entertains with live music, and there are happy hours available for those that love a good deal.

Things To Do
There is no shortage of things to do in Costa Rica, no matter where you stay, but Palma Real happens to be in San Jose, which is a city that is full of life. There are so many cultural experiences to have in the area, including going to shows and museums. Though I’ve been all over Costa Rica, I always love coming back to San Jose, and I feel like I discover something new with each visit. While the hotel offers an awesome menu, you can also venture out into the city to dine on dishes that include local veggies, tropical fruits, fresh seafood.
Be sure to check out the National Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Gold Museum, and the Natural Science Museum. The exhibits in these museums are sure to strike a chord in those with curiosity. You can also take in a show at the National Theater; be sure to take in the architecture of the theater as well.

There is, of course, plenty of shopping to be done in the city as well. I know I always have to get gifts and souvenirs for my friends back home. In San Jose, you are sure to be able to find some lovable handcrafted treasures.I hope that I get the chance to stay at Palma Real again. Hey, maybe I’ll see you there one day!
